Education System
Singapore follows GCE O Levels and GCE A Levels until the secondary level of education. Here they can choose a specialisation in polytechnic education or other streams. 

For higher education Singapore follows:
  • Undergraduate courses- bachelor’s degree- the duration of which is 3 years
  • Postgraduate courses- master’s degree- the duration of which is 2 years
  • Post-doctorate courses- PhD programs- the duration of which is 3 years

Eligibility

For undergraduate courses
  • The student must have completed class 12th or equivalent exam from the recognized board
  • Minimum score in the aforesaid exams should be 85% marks
  • English language test scores from recognised tests like IELTS/ TOEFL are needed
  • Academic Transcripts to be submitted in the English language
For postgraduate courses
  • Bachelor's degree from a recognised institution or university
  • A score of competitive exams like GMAT, GRE etc 
  • MBA admissions require 2–3 years of work experience
  • Requires a minimum 2.8 CGPA in bachelors

Part-time work opportunities
Singapore allows students with a Student Pass to be eligible to work part-time. The maximum time allowed is 16 hours a week when classes are on. The students can work for unlimited hours when holidays are on, given that they: 
  • Are registered as full-time students in approved institutions
  • Hold a valid Student Pass issued by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA)
Universities do not place any restrictions on where the students work. They are allowed to work on-campus or off-campus.

PSW Visa

Singapore has a Tuition Grant Scheme. Under this scheme, students are helped with the costs of tertiary education. Non-Singapore students who receive the grant under Tuition Grant (subject to MOE's approval) need to sign a Tuition Grant Agreement which contractually  requires them to work in any Singapore entity for three (3) years upon graduation. 

For other international students they need to apply for a work visa. There are 4 common types of work visa:
  • Employment Pass- This is the most commonly applied work visa. This work visa is allotted to students who want to work in a managerial, executive or specialised job. The minimum salary requirement is $4500 per month. The visa must be sponsored by their employer. This is valid for 2-3 years
  • S Pass is the second most commonly applied for a visa. This visa is mostly for those employees who are mid-skilled. The Salary requirements for the same is $2400 a month. This is valid for 2 years
  • EntrePass- This work visa is valid for those international students who are willing to start a business or enterprise in Singapore. They have to be registered under the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) Singapore
  • Long Term Visit Pass- This visa is valid for graduates from the institute of higher learning. This pass is valid for 1-2 years

Scholarships

  • The Tuition Grant Scheme- This grant is given to students at any level. The quantum of the grant is for the entire amount of the course. The student needs to sign a Tuition Grant Agreement which has been explained earlier
  • The Nanyang Technological University- This grant is given to students pursuing full-time education. The students need high scores on the Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'A' level. The quantum of the grant is 100% tuition fees, SGD 6,500 for living expenses
  • Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA)- The grant is given to meritorious students in any field pursuing research or postdoctoral. The grant is awarded by NTU, NUS, the Agency for Science, Technology & Research, and the Singapore Management University. It provides  4-year support of the entire tuition amount

The average tuition fees in Singapore is:
  • 6-months -2 years Diploma cost on average $5,000 GSD to $20,000 GSD
  • 2 -4 years Bachelor’s Degree cost an average of $24, 000 GSD to $55, 000 GSD
  • 1 -1.5 year Master's Degree cost an average of $18, 500 GSD to $30,000 GSD
  • Cost of basic utility: $80 - $100 SGD 
  • On an average meal costs: $300 - $450 SGD
  • The average transport cost: $20 -$150 GSD
  • Telecommunication Cost: $30 - $500 GSD 
  • Stationary Cost: $30 GSD to $100 GSD
  • Personal Expenses: $100 GSD to $300 GSD

Student life
Singapore has a multicultural and diverse population. It is very easy to bond and network with different people. It is one of the happiest cities in the world. Students find the curriculum easy-going and the faculty is approachable and warm. The environment is clean and green. The affordable healthcare, strict cleanliness and civic facilities make life pleasurable for students. Public transport services are safe, clean and easily accessible. 

Culture
Food is a great unifier in Singapore. There are hawker centres which merge western bars and traditional community centres. The food culture is one of the richest in the world. 

The housing development board or HDB are the primary residential blocks. These are small spaced living arrangements that are home to a lot of people.

This place even has an indoor skating rink built with synthetic ice
  • Singapore Flyer- This is a Giant Ferris Wheel with a stunning vista. It is the highest Ferris wheel in the world. It is accessible to the differently-abled
  • Buddha Tooth Relic Temple- This temple is in Chinatown, Singapore. It houses a tooth relic from Buddha. It is also an architectural delight
  • Night Safari- If you do not like party scenes, yet want to be out during the nighttime, Night Safari is amazing with animals ranging from preserved to endangered species and their natural habitats on display
  • Clarke Quay- This is a quay at the mouth of the Singapore river and a hub of Singapore’s commerce. It not only has trendy hotels and an active nightlife, but it provides a rich market experience

Visa Requirements

  • Valid passport with the validity being beyond 3 months after passport expiration date
  • You need to submit completed Student Visa Application Forms – ICA form 16 & Form V36
  • The offer letter from a reputed Singapore institute/university
  • Receipt of application fee payment
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs 
  • Bank Statements giving proof of funds
  • Bank loan sanction letter if the student is taking a loan
  • Transcripts, diplomas, degrees, or certificates from last attended education
  • Test scores of competitive exams: TOEFL, GRE, or GMAT
  • Means for payment of educational, living and travel costs
