About the Course

The study of pharmaceuticals deals with dispensing medication as well as production, and correct utilization of drugs. Pharmacy courses prepare candidates with the practical and theoretical components of the field. The bachelor’s degree courses in pharmacy generally last from 3 to 4 years. Students can enrol for a Master’s degree in Pharmacy after completing their 4-year course in B.Pharma. Master’s in pharmacy programs are widely taught abroad as the experience and advanced technology in the industry expand one’s knowledge and understanding of the subject. Subjects include Enzymology and Protein Chemistry; Medicinal Chemistry; Biochemistry; Cell Signalling; Synthetic Drugs Design etc. Specialisations in this field include Pharmaceutical Management, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Clinical Pharmacy, Drug Discovery and Safety, Technical Pharmacy, etc.

Students who aim to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy must have a science background in their high school and qualify for English exams such as TOEFL or PTE or IELTS. To apply to a Master’s in Pharmacy students must have a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or in a related subject including Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Microbiology or Molecular Biology. Additionally, many graduate programmes require you to be registered as a practising pharmacist or have some experience in the pharmaceutical industry.  A Pharmacist requires knowledge of technical English skills as there are a lot of medical and chemical terms one must be familiar with. Most universities accept the following language exams and minimum scores: TOEFL- 570; IELTS: 6.5 – 7.0; C1 Advanced: 180. Also, most foreign Pharmacy programmes do not accept applicants with a GPA lower than 4.5 or D. Another measure is CGPA. The minimum CGPA for which is 2.50 if aspirants come with 2 years of work experience in a relevant field, and 2.75 if there is no work experience.
