The University of Central Florida (UCF) is the second-largest university in the United States, with 63,000 students and over 200 programmes of study to choose from. The university has a Carnegie Foundation designation for very high research activity.
There are 13 colleges at UCF: the college of arts and humanities, the Burnett Honors College, the college of business administration, the college of education and human performance, the college of engineering and computer science, the college of graduate studies, the college of health and public affairs, the college of medicine, the college of nursing, the college of optics and photonics, the Rosen College of Hospitality Management, the college of sciences and undergraduate studies.
A diverse range of students come to study at UCF from all 50 states and almost 150 different countries. Students can also gain experience of life abroad through partnerships with almost 100 universities in 36 countries around the globe.
UCF is located in Orlando, one of Florida’s major cities and most popular destinations, due to the many theme parks surrounding the area. The university campus spans 1,415 acres, 800 of which are natural wood and grassland which provide a habitat for dozens of Florida’s native species.
An expansive recreation and wellness centre includes three climbing walls, indoor track and fitness equipment. Students also get to enjoy games at the 10,000 seat arena and football stadium.
UCF’s athletics teams, the UCF Knights, compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Their top sports include women’s basketball and men’s football.
